All-on-4 Treatment Concept
What Is All-on-4?
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that we surgically embed underneath the gum tissue and into the jawbone. A single implant is typically used to support a dental crown. Multiple dental implants can be used to support a fixed bridge. Most full-arch restorations require six to eight implants. This is where All-on-4 comes into play. As the name suggests, the All-on-4 treatment concept only requires four implants per arch! This can drastically reduce the duration of your healing period. It can also lead to a more comfortable experience.
All-on-4 is successful thanks to the revolutionary technique. During your surgery, Dr. Radakovich places the two posteriors (back) implants at a 35 to 45-degree angle from the bite plane. This angle allows us to capitalize on the existing bone structure and maximize support. The two anterior (front) implants are placed at a vertical angle, as we would with any other implant.
Do You Need a Bone Graft for All-on-4?
One of the many benefits of the All-on-4 treatment concept is the elimination of bone graft procedures. When we lose a tooth, we lose the physical stimulation that keeps our jaw bone healthy. If tooth loss remains untreated, you may experience bone deterioration. This bone deterioration can prevent you from receiving implant treatment.
Implants require a significant amount of bone in the jaw to be successful. The process of osseointegration, which is responsible for the strong bond between the implant and your bone, will not take place if the jawbone is too thin or too soft. The All-on-4 technique utilizes existing bone. In many cases, patients do not need a bone graft for All-on-4, even if they have experienced bone deterioration.
All-on-4 Vs. Other Alternatives
We offer All-on-4 because we believe in its many benefits. When compared to other implant restorations, All-on-4 can drastically improve your healing process. A reduced number of implants translates to an easier, quicker, and less painful experience. All-on-4 is also ideal for patients who lack the bone density to support a large number of traditional implants.
Traditional alternatives such as removable dentures can be appropriate in certain situations. However, All-on-4 is a superior choice for those who do not want to deal with the hassles of dentures. Patients with removable dentures may experience embarrassing slips when they speak, smile, or chew food.
Gum irritation and bone deterioration are also common problems associated with denture use. Unlike dental implants, dentures do not preserve the bone in the jaw. If you currently wear dentures, All-on-4 could change your life!
